I am a professional pianist and a passionate teacher over 20 years. I began my music study at age 4 and studied throughout the world, a Music Bachelor degree in South Korea, a Master in Germany, an Artist Diploma in France and currently a doctor of musical arts candidate in George Mason University. I have been teaching students of all ages in various countries for several decades from South Korea, Germany, France and the United States. I want to continue my teaching experiences throughout the U.S and become more passionate for students who are fueled and driven from their own understanding of musical components.
I have been teaching over 20 years and in the U.S over 7 years. My teaching experience allows me to work closely with many different students. I am able to lead students that are always striving and wanting to learn more about music in their respective musical fields and create that path for those who share that same type of passion for music as I have achieve throughout my studies and my mentors. I can teach not only classical music but also gospel, Church music, accompaniment, Jazz, Pop, Game music and Free styles.
For beginning students I typically start with Bastien piano books which have 4 different levels. Once they finish 4 levels, I will begin to introduce classical songs, Hymn, Jazz, Game music, Pop and also teach them free styles with chord progressions. Also, my students can learn any songs they want to play since I am able to remake songs based on their level. For adults, I focus on teaching the sight-reading skill with the right technic and theory and also my adult students can learn any genre of music with me.
It is always a pleasure to be able to play music with students and that students will be able to understand and enjoy music through a good education. I encourage my students to get realistic goals at each lesson. I teach how to play piano with knowledgeable fundamental music theory and technic so that they can feel comfortable with playing piano. Especially, I specialize in piano instruction for the all ages, emphasizing creative, interactive and imaginative approaches for students. I love working with music students to find joy, creativity, and play in making music on the piano.
