Overview:
Music has been a part of my life for over forty years. I am passionate about guitars and interacting with an audience. I have this ability and passion with great patients to help others enrich their lives with self-expression through learning to play the guitar. A seventh grade music teacher taught me three chords and gave me an old guitar and I have never been the same. I really want to give back what she gave to me. I perform live music five nights a week playing everything from Frankie Valli to Three doors down, all the classic hits, songs that have become classics in every generation. Songs that stir our hearts, create emotion, and make lasting memories can make a difference for you as well. There is no greater joy than teaching someone to play an instrument with the ability to express themselves as a future artist.
EXPERIENCE
My Teaching experience with playing the guitar is correlated to my experience as a Florida Teacher. I spent a lot of time using the guitar to build rapport and create positive teacher/student relationships that motivated students to achieve not only with the guitar but their academics as well. I have plenty of experience teaching students how to change chords, finger placement between frets, and surviving sore finger syndrome. Lol I encourage my students to practice on a daily basis and to focus on their right hand techniques as well as chord mastering. The most exciting point is when a student plays a song not just to copy the artist, but authentically “owning” the song in their expression.
METHODS USED
It is so vital to the student’s success to enjoy the lesson plan. I start beginners with the basic fundamentals, learning chord progression, and the anatomy of the guitar, utilizing a wealth of friendly user print outs such as chords, scales, blank guitar necks, etc. Adult learners need positive reinforcement and encouragement as well, helping them to overcome barriers in their thinking, listening to them as to their goals, and marking out a clearly defined objective for the learning experience.
LESSON STYLE
I have a natural innate ability to teach and to help students to understand the joy of playing the guitar. My motivation and passion is the love of teaching. I love it when my students have an “aha” moment of sudden insight or discovery about the guitar. I am very patient and encouraging with instruction toward students, never causing them to feel unaccepted or discouraged. I continually create an attitude of unconditional positive regard toward their lessons and their ability to be successful.
