Overview:
Joe Pino, performer, composer, and educator, has always pushed for musical excellence. In May 2008, Joe earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Trumpet Performance from the world-renowned music school, Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.
Years later, his talent has taking him far. His extensive performance career leads him into performing at some of the best concert halls and clubs around New York City, Philadelphia, Boston, and Washington D.C.
The hard working Boston native stays busy with gigs and sessions around NYC, particularly in the Jazz scene. Joe’s reputation as a jazz trumpet player has also led him playing with well-known artists such as The Temptations, Morgan Heritage, The Happenings, and legend TV star, Vicky Lewis.
Joe leads his quartet, organ trio, and freelances, which has gave him an extensive performing schedule playing at some of the greatest venues all over the country; Blue Note Jazz Club NYC, Summer Stage Central Park, The Mann Center, Smalls Jazz Club, The Garage, Why Not Jazz Room, Chris’s Jazz Café, Shrine, Silvana, Tea Lounge, Shape Shifter Lab, Piano’s Lounge, Treme Jazz and Blues Club, The Sugar Bar, Trumpets Jazz Club, Twins Jazz Club, Somethin’ Jazz Club, The Fat Cat, House of Blues Foundation Room, Chianti Jazz Lounge, Ryles Jazz Club, The Zeiterion Theatre, and The Wilbur Theatre.
Joe just finished playing 2nd trumpet in The National Broadway Tour of Woody Allen’s “Bullets Over Broadway”. The show had its long run from October 2015 to July 2016 with performances all over the country.
Joe has also transcribed many jazz artists solos, one which is featured in a Bugles Media Publications Book called The Improvisation Style of Jim Rotondi By: Eric Siereveld.

Berklee College of Music, City Music Outreach Program (2012-2014) Berklee City Music is a nonprofit education program that harnesses the energy of contemporary music to reach underserved 4th to 12th graders. Students dedicate themselves to building their musical talent, their self-confidence and, in the long run, the strength of their community. With year-round instruction, expert faculty, individualized mentoring, and a comprehensive curriculum, students are set up for success. Berklee City Music combines the breadth of Berklee resources, facilities, and available scholarships with an environment of attention and encouragement. Kids get the tools and support they need to flourish as students, musicians, and—perhaps most important—confident and well-rounded individuals ready to shape their world.
Harborlight/Stoneridge Montessori School, (2010-2013) Taught group lessons to students in 5th and 6th grade.
Beverly Public Schools, (2010-2013) K-12 Substitute General Music Teacher, and Para Professional. Instructed classroom music lessons weekly to children K-12 based on lesson plans. Teaching music theory, music history, and organized musical activities for students.

METHODS USED
For beginning trumpet/trombone students: Rubank Book 1, Arbans Complete Method, Max Schlossberg, Gatti Grand Method, Peretti Book. For beginning piano students: Bastien Piano Series, Music for Little Mozarts, Alfred Series **All books mentioned progressively get harder and can be used for the advanced student as well**
I like to focus and pin point what the student needs the most work with to make him/her progress and succeed on their instrument. It is important to also make each lesson fun, and enjoyable for the student while also learning the craft of their instrument.
LESSON STYLE
As a teacher, I like to focus on each students needs as becoming a well rounded musician. I like to work from a few method books including Arbans, Rubank, and Schlossberg for building up your embouchere as a trumpet player. We will focus in on technique, embouchere building, jazz improvisation, and music theory. I always encourage my students that if there is a piece of music they would like to learn, bring it to the lesson and we will work on it. It is important to also make each lesson fun, and enjoyable for the student while also learning the craft of their instrument. Progressing comes through practice and dedication which I try to encourage each student to work hard and do the best they can do!
