I have worked with,recorded,performed,toured and written with artists and producers such as ;rodger fischer from heart,mike derosier,also from heart,rick derringer,survivor,la guns,blackfoot,candlebox,neil james ,producer of bon jovi,willie nelson and kid rock,members of marshall tucker band,and many more.Ihave taught in schools,privately ages 4 to 92.I have also worked with kids with dissabilities.many years experience.many styles and with proper technique.I have worked in many differenty aspects of the music biz.thanks for reading hope to hear from you soon.
I teach the student as much as they can absorb while making sure they understand the material.I have never run out of material to teach.I teach proper technique and about scales because every song written is based on scales.I also work on songs with the student at the same time so they can see and understand how the songs and scales are used together.After the basics are understood we move on to songs the student wants to learn.I can also tailor lessons to a students wants or needs if desired.I have been doing this quite a while and understand what works.
I really covered this in the above information,so continuing in more detail,it really depends on each individual student,their level of ability and age that determine the course of study.It also depends on the instrument.Some instruments like piano,violin or viola,books are more practical because the music is notated.With most fretted instruments,music is written in tableture which was originally used for the lute and brought back i think in the 1970s.Its easier than reading music and is more practical for those instruments.
As I previously mentioned above,I show each student as much as they can pick up.I can show a student just about anything they want to learn,but its really about how much they practice at home that determines their ability.If the student practices a lot we move much quicker and it becomes more fun and challenging.Music is endless and you can never stop learning.they are proving more and more every day how music affects your brain.When you just listen to music,you use every part of your brain.Few things do that.When you play music you are using even more of your brain.
