I have been blessed to study under such great teachers as Robert Guthrie SMU, Darrell Abbott (Pantera) Pete Lee (GWAR) Benoi's King Chicago bluesman, Jerry Don Branch the Texas Stratocaster. Randal Nye legendary classical, Miguel Antonio legendary worldwide flamenco prodigy and bluegrass from legendary teacher Jim Keaton from Dallas Texas. I also studied classical guitar and Theory Eastfeild and Richland College voice from the infamous Arthur Peters with the vocal majority and many many more!
Lifetime achievements and accomplishments successfully with working with special needs students for over 30 years and much more! Expertise teaching: Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Drums and percussion Banjo, Mandolin, Lap-steel, Tenor guitar and Lap-Dulcimer teaching all instruments with vocal accompaniment if the students goal is to sing. Highly focused on coaching and encouraging my students to strive to become, better, self-driven and highly individually motivated. I teach all ages from 5 years old-85 all levels and all styles including: pop alternative rock metal bluegrass reggae punk ska classical flamenco fingerstyle beginner through advanced acoustic and electric. I've been teaching since 1985 and successfully making Global and Texas musicians such as: Phillip and Lisa Loeb, Max Davis 8 string wizard, Famous Chef Stacey and Ryan Mulqueen who is now in his 4th year scholarship at SMU under Robert Guthrie just to name a few of my proud accomplishment!
This is where I think it is fun to be creative because we are all different. Everybody has a different method of interpretation and I feel like that is my job to figure out what works for you as an individual. For example I will simply ask you questions like what style of music are you listening to and songs you want to learn how to play. It is also my job to know the difficulty level and how to guide you in the right direction to keep things fun! Some great books and Publications are Frederick Noad for classical guitar Hal Leonard books 1 through 3 are also excellent for beginners. Hal Leonard children's book for beginner children.
My main goal and teaching is to inspire self motivation and make it fun! I like to pick songs that are fun to play and challenging at the same time depending on what level you are at that time. By doing this I think keeping the instrument out and not in the closet is a good start that way if the inspiration hits you and you want to play it is within your reach "guitar stand and wall hangers are ideal" and not in the case the put away " Out of sight out of mind" I suggest buying a music stand for your instruments and or wall hangers which seem to work very well as a display and also so the instrument is within your reach.
