I am a motivated instruction who loves passing on to students the enjoyment of music and the skills neccessary to perform. I have been bass trombonist with the National Orchestra in Lima, Peru; and I am currently bass trombonist in the World Civic Orchestra, the American Chamber Orchestra, the St. Thomas Orchestra and the Collegium Westchester; as well as several Swing Big Bands, including the Sonny Caroll Orchestra, and the Fairfield Counts. I have performed at the Spoletto Music Festival, in Spoletto, Italy; at Tanglewood, in Taiwan, and Japan; I have done solo work at Symphony Space in New York City; and have worked with many different famous conductors.
My teaching experience goes back to my student days and Juilliard. Even then, passing on the excitement and passion for music and the skills needed to perform. Since then I have developed my ideas of teaching which are focused on execution and steady musical progress, not restricted by the use of a single method book.
For beginning students, any available elementary method book will be used. The early excercies will be enhanced and explored from my past experience and the student's progressive improvement.
During lessons, I encourage the student at every possible point. Correcting and giving many points of success. The important essential for me is providing a steady stream of improvement with the study materials. What ever they may be, methods, ad hoc excercises, solos, and ensemble music.
