I'm a fun loving musician who enjoys sharing my passion for music with my students. I graduated from the College of Wooster with a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance and then Florida State University with a Masters of Music in Choral Conducting. Music has opened many doors both professionally and personally. I have had the opportunity to tour up and down the east coast while performing with 16 voice professional choir and met my wife through a choir we both were singing in.
I have been teaching private lesson on and off since I was in college. I have taken the last few years off to complete my graduate education and begin my formal teaching career. I believe that encouraging my students to find fun in practice by choosing music that keeps the students interested. This means taking music from both the classical and popular repertoires.
My teaching methods depend on the instrument, age and experience of the student, and the goals for the lessons. Every student will develop a solid base of fundamentals and music reading that grows into study of a variety of styles of music.
I love seeing and sharing my students passion for music. I can be rather silly and love to laugh, but I also believe that excellence is a habit. Therefore, I try to keep each lesson engaging and fun while also setting reasonable goals for my students. I also want to help my students develop consistent practice habits so that they can see how practicing leads to improvement. Lastly I want to help my students make music that inspires them.
Jon is so great with our daughter. She is loving guitar and he has done an excellent job getting her off in the right direction.
