Overview:
Music has been a paramount part of my development in growing up as a person. I grew up listening to all kinds of different genres, and eventually developed an aspiration to do music for a living. I began playing guitar so I could write my own music and be able to perform my work at venues. Around the same time I was beginning to help out kids at my church's daycare and would soon find that I also had a passion for teaching people as well. I currently play in the Pop Alternative band out of Orlando, FL and have played in over a hundred different venues.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience began during my volunteer days back in Pennsylvania. I attended Fairview Church in Collegeville, Pennsylvania and assisted in the daycare development of younger children. I would develop a passion for teaching kids through this experience, around the same time I started to pick up playing guitar. Music has always been a passion for me, so to learn to write and play my own music was something that turned into a real dedication. I always thought it would be a dream come true to be able to be able to mix my love of teaching along with my dedication to music. I think music should be a huge part of any persons life and I hope I can assist in making that happen.
METHODS USED
My teaching method is very keen to diagrams. In my experience, it can be hard to visualize some of the terminology that is provided my teachers. Using diagrams helps to put the instructors words into a more visual format. I also like teaching through some of the students favorite songs, it really helps keep the student interested in the lesson as a whole.
LESSON STYLE
My teaching style very catered to the experience of the person learning the instrument. I think it's very important that the lessons move at the pace of which the student appears to be learning. The style of music the student wants to learn is rarely steered away from, I feel that too many teachers force students to learn songs outside their preferred genre just because the song is well known. My methods stick to the desire and speed at the students preference to better enhance their desire to get better at not just guitar, but music as a whole.
