I am a passionate and motivated flute instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love for flute. In, 2016 I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Flute performance. I have had the pleasure to perform as a freelancer in Boston MA, as a session musician playing for film, television, and video games. I’ve had the opportunity to play in Symphony Hall for Lord of the Rings and Final Fantasy Distant Worlds and Legend of Zelda symphony of the goddess at the Wang Theater.
My teaching experience dates back to when I was in high-school. I always loved to help others and see them succeed so naturally I didn’t mind helping people discover there own sound. It took a lot of trial and error and discovery. But once I found techniques that worked for me. I applied them to other people. I want a student feel inspired and want to play the flute. I want them to feel free and effortless and feel the beautiful feeling of playing with a free sound from all Registers top to bottom.
For every student. We can work on any material. From Classical to Jazz to Pop to Video game music. I am open to anything they are working on or wanting to work on. The material can be any type of difficult and any style. My job is to teach the fundamentals of flute sound production and make sure the student isn’t working so hard to make a beautiful sound. Once the student has a beautiful sound we then work on other fundamentals such as articulation, double tonguing, triple tonguing and more advanced techniques.
I find teaching more rewarding than performing. Seeing a student progress and make improvements gives me joy and seeing them find there own distinct beautiful sound is important to me. I like to know the students goals and purpose so I can tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. My favorite thing to teach is sound production and tone for the flute. A beautiful sound can make things easier as one continues to progress. I enjoy teaching tone production to doublers and anyone interested in the flute.
