 While attaining my degree I had practicums on the elementary, middle school and did my student teaching at Cedar Ridge high school. I have a year of teaching Chorus in the Guilford public school system. I also have musical theater experience. I have also been singing in church my whole life and have held an interim minister of music position at East Belmont Church of God. I have started my piano and voice studio and hold Lesson out of my father's church. I encourage my students to learn singing by sound and sensation and will help to improve their aural skills using solfege and muscle memory. I also encourage both piano students, and voice students to learn as much theory so that they can use it as a tool for their future musical career.

 Music is a very physical thing as well as a very abstract thing.  In my lessons, there will be kennistetic learning through movement as well as teaching through sensation. Using tools like Solfege it helps create muscle memory and tuning. Piano students will learn a wealth of theory knowledge, correct posture and fingering patterns. I will also encourage singing in my piano lessons to reaffirm the student's aural skills. The Alexander Technique is also something that my students will explore in our lessons.
