Overview:

I have been teaching privately and at different schools and music stores since 1997. I attended Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA, I completed their BA program in 1999. After playing in various bands for a few years I decided to start writing, recording and producing music for placements on TV, Films, Commercials, etc. I have been doing that since 2003, I play guitar, bass and other stringed instruments on most of my music and for other artists as well. In addition to playing guitar I am also proficient at mixing, recording and producing mostly using Logic Pro.

EXPERIENCE

I am experienced and proficient with most contemporary styles, rock, metal, funk, jazz, Latin, R&B, etc. I also have a thorough understanding of harmony and theory. I have taught guitar students of all levels and ages. I tailor my lessons to the students needs and have a large collection of sheet music and lessons I have written out for my students. I am a decent sight reader and I have a very good ear for transcribing songs and parts of songs for students. Some of my lessons include famous songs that I have simplified so the student can start learning it right away.

METHODS USED

My teaching method depends on what the student wants to learn, if they prefer to start learning songs first that is fine but I will still make sure to cover basic music principles in early lessons and incorporate them into the lessons. I can also start with method books but I have found that students don't always want to start there. For students that want a well rounded approach I will combine one of the common method books with simple songs and chords that the student can get going on right away.

LESSON STYLE

My teaching method depends on what the student wants to learn, if they prefer to start learning songs first that is fine but I will still make sure to cover basic music principles in early lessons and incorporate them into the lessons. I need and expect my students to practice at least 15 minutes of per day, more if possible. This will enable me to not have to review previous lessons too much and we can move through more material quicker. I am also working youtube content where I demonstrate my lessons in case the student needs to review after our lesson is concluded.
