I have obtain a Associate Degree in Arts from Gadsden State, and my Bachelors from University of Arkansas in Monticello in Jazz Studies.
For beginner students, I recommend Essentials of Band for Trumpet. Once the student has a solid foundation of the fundamentals of music, I introduce them to more intermediate level books such as Flexus, Arbans, and Classical Trumpet playing. No matter the level of any student, I always make sure they understand the parts of the Trumpet. I usually give small mini quizzes, and reward the student with small gifts. All of my students, will be asked what is music? After we've developed an understanding of music itself. This helps me have an ideal of the students personality. Music to me helps understand a person Spiritual being of who we are. I recommend listening to all styles to have a better understanding of the music criteria. When teaching beginners my focus will be helping create a sound and aware of any bad postures. I tend to ask all students what they love the most about music? Music is the building block of life.
