Overview:
I am a passionate musician, educator, conductor, and composer, and I have been happily obsessed with music since I began piano lessons at age 10. I joined the school band program in 6th grade, and since then, I have learned how to play and teach many different instruments. My primary instrument is percussion, but I play piano, low brass, clarinet, bass guitar, and I also have perfect pitch. I also have had opportunities to share my love of music by arranging and composing for my own students as well as being commissioned by school band programs. Outside of music, I enjoy practicing yoga, discovering new hiking and biking trails, and generally being outdoors.
EXPERIENCE
I have taught instrumental music in public schools for 5 years which has included teaching grades 5-12 in subjects such as beginning band, beginning orchestra, intermediate band, intermediate orchestra, marching band, percussion ensembles, and small group/individual instruction. I have been teaching private lessons in drums, piano, and concert band instruments for 10 years. I have been a performing member of rock bands, concert bands, orchestras, jazz bands, marching bands, choirs, and percussion ensembles, so I have a very diverse knowledge base which gives me the ability to adapt my instruction as a teacher to meet the needs of any student's goals and aspirations.
METHODS USED
The first thing I do when teaching a student is to learn what musical goals and aspirations the student may have. Then, depending on age and experience, I build a custom program for the student, which may include using various books, resources, and even materials which I have created. I have found that this is not only the most effective way for me to teach but also the most effective way to connect with students where they are and for them to learn at their own pace while also enjoying the process.
LESSON STYLE
Since I have had many different teachers in many different areas of my musical life, my philosophy is to be flexible and open as an instructor. I have learned many different methods and techniques, and depending on the type of lesson I'm teaching, I use whatever methods are relevant. Whether I'm teaching rock music, orchestral music, or even marching band techniques, my goal is to give students the skills and tools they need to have fun and be successful. Awareness is very important in my lessons, and once students understand their ability to observe themselves and make clear observations, progress usually speeds up tremendously. When students understand and identify physical or mental barriers that are self imposed, those barriers can disappear, leading to a fulfilling and enjoyable musical experience.

As lessons continue this teacher has proven consistently the dedication to adult students by building quickly on former experience. Previously I worked with a teacher as a very unfocused individual with basic scales and not practicing. My passion was fading due to my own lazy attitude, yet years later, I was lucky enough to find Jordan and have him work effectively with guided lessons, and encouraging environment. A teacher that many would want, but not many can find. 10/10 - Looking forward to more lessons.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
