Hello I am a motivated and hard working instructor and love to share my love of music with others. I am minioring in Musical Performance at Weber State University. I have been playing trombone for 9 years and singing for about 10 years. Music is a huge part of my life and I am excited to share it with others. All the years I have been playing I have performed in some type of group whether it was band, choir, I even did many solos throughout the time I've been playing. Right now I am a drum major for the Weber State Wildcat Marching Band as well.
This is my first time teaching private lessons. I have been playing for 9 years and singing for 10. I have taken private lessons in the past but I am looking forward to being able to teach the thing that I love to do. I am a fun, hardworking, and dedicated teacher and hope I can make an impact on my students. My motto is if you are not having fun while working hard then we are not doing it right. I want my students to enjoy their time as they are learning music. That is the most important part to me is that they want music apart of their life.
For beginning students who are ages 8-13 will first use the Standard of Excellence red book and then they will transfer to the blue book. Intermediate and Advance will use the Foundations for superior performance book. We will start to pick solos that they are able to play and work on them. For Advanced we will also use the selected studies book and the Arban book in our studies. Solos will be picked based on their ability and skill level. As far as vocal we will develop this as we go along. I have warm up and techniques of my own for students to use.
I really want to focus on what students want to become. It is really important to me to see a student develop a passion of music. With that everyone learns at their own pace so I want to be able to help them learn at their pace. Something I also think is important is I cannot teach everything in one session. If the student is wanting to learn and grow then they have to take on practicing on their own. This is one of the best ways to learn because a student can take what they learn in the lesson and practice and develop that skill.
