My journey as a singer started as soon as I could talk. I won my hometowns pageant (Little Miss Rockwall) by singing and dancing to a Shirly Temple song. I was singing on stage with my mom in church and eventually was leading music in chapel at my private school and in youth group services. I competed in my school choir and did solo competitions as well. In Elementary school, I attended Linda Septien's Music School (singers such as Demi Lavato, Salena Gomez, Jessica Simpson attended this school). I then went on to take lessons from Curtis Bradshaw who was the vocal coach for the famous singer, Norah Jones. I have been leading and overseeing worship teams in churches for the past 10 years. During this time I have been a part of 3 different albums
I have been singing on stage for over 20 years, in studios for over 10 years, and playing piano for 10 years. My teaching career began 8 years ago and has been so fulfilling. I love being a part of a student's journey to gain confidence and growth in their giftings and talents. My teaching experience ranges from church, musical theatre, weddings, restaurant gigs, and even those that want to be better karaoke singers! I am always learning from other professionals to keep current and updated with my teaching material. Looking forward to working with you and being apart of your journey!
I teach both classical and contemporary styles. I focus heavily on ear training and healthy ways to sing out and grow vocal range. For piano lessons, I generally use Alfred's curriculum but I am open to what a student has used previously as well. I will work to keep lessons fun and engaging according to what the student's needs are at the time. I will send homework and often encourage students to record progress through the week when they are able to practice. I am always open to questions outside of lessons as well.
My teaching style allows students to go at their own pace. I will work to set realistic goals with them at each lesson and acknowledge accomplishments as these goals are met. I encourage the students to have a notebook with them during lessons so that we can document assignments, goals, progress, and accomplishments. For younger students, I will usually have some kind of special reward for them when completing a goal/assignment. This reward would be chosen according to what the parent/guardian is comfortable with.
I took lessons with Jordan for about a year and learned so much. She made me feel very comfortable. Jordan is a thorough and well rounded instructor.
Jordan gave my son both piano and vocal lessons and he loved every minute! She was able to break things down so that he understood and he is excelling in his school choir! I would highly recommend her!
I worked with Jordan on the piano for a couple years and learned so much from her teaching. She helped me improve in my skill level and always worked to teach me something new in every lesson. She would gently push me outside of my comfort zone and it always paid off. I was able to learn so much in the years that I worked with her. She is an amazing and inspiring person and I loved being able to do my piano lessons with her.
