Hello everyone, I have a passion for teaching, particularly for adult beginners. My students focus on a variety of subjects, many of which enhance each other. Reading music is easier than reading a language! We need will find the easiest and most fun way to accomplish what you want. I am a strong believer that every student has different ways of approaching goals. My goal is to help people become in tune with their passions. ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………...
Ballet Piano Accompanist at New York City Ballet. I rehearse and prepare ballet and dance music for dancers of all levels; beginning, intermediate and advanced. My dancers range from young children, to adult and senior beginners. I also play for serious teenagers who train to perform with some of the worlds most sought after ballet careers. Edit International Ambassador of Western Music May 2014 - May 2014 American Music Abroad My cello quartet toured throughout Eastern Europe for 30 days performing and teaching classes and chamber groups. We trained students for their own performances and collaborated with various artists in their home countries. I performed piano, cello and composed original music. Edit Chamber Music Coach Jun 2010 - Jul 2010 Portland Oregon Community Music Center I coached young chamber music groups and prepared rehearsal techniques and performances of Vivaldi, Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven.
I've been studying and teaching cello since the 20th century. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to fluently read music and as time goes on you'll be able to perform classical literature or compose your own music. I have a historical basis behind my musical decisions so we will study old traditions and new ones from various sources. Piano and Cello are demonstrative so I will always have my cello or piano at hand. We will also play duets because collaboration is the most fun in music!
I currently work as a pianist for various Ballet companies and have studied music performance at the Juilliard School and San Francisco Conservatory of music. We will learn and explore the capabilities of the very large instrument by studying literature and repertoire that helped develop the instrument into what it is today. The more we read the more we learn! I will teach you how to read music so easily you will be able to read music at the piano for the first time. That is called sight-reading! It is very fun and will help to prepare beautiful music making for performances on stage or in the home. Even playing music more beautifully than before can be rewarding if you simply enjoy playing privately for yourself. You do not have to have touched a piano in your whole life! We can start from the very beginning if you need be.
Adam is such a charming, encouraging teacher who goes above and beyond every lesson! I've learned more in my first month of lessons than six months with my prior teacher. He covers theory, history, terminology, has helpful exercises that build dexterity, and gives you the confidence to play complicated, beautiful pieces right from the beginning. I'm so grateful to be taught by him and am looking forward to mastering more songs along my musical journey! 6/5 stars :)
Adam Y. is the best music teacher I've ever met. He helps me play better and understand music better. I feel very lucky to have met him.
