Overview:

I am a bassist, keyboardist, and vocalist located in Los Angeles, California. I play for local bands and artists in venues throughout LA. Currently, I am attending the University of Southern California majoring in Popular Music at the Thornton School of Music with a minor in Music Industry. I have recorded and written with various artists and producers throughout my career, as well as performed on multiple radio shows such as as Q104.3, 94.3 “The Point”, and KXSC. I have also played for artists such as The War and Treaty, Amber Riley, Lediesi, and Mickey Guyton for Country Music Television.

EXPERIENCE

Throughout my career I have gotten to teach various students in both piano and bass. I have worked for the Thornton Community Engagement Program and the University of Southern California during my freshman year of school. During my time in this program I have found multiple teaching techniques to engage the student in the rudimental material of theory through their favorite songs. I encourage my students to find songs that they love for us to work on that way they can find the connection between their instrument and their favorite songs.

METHODS USED

In my teaching I aim to first assess where the student's skill level currently stands. I focus on being able to continuously develop a student's ear, theory knowledge, techique, and sight-reading. While working in these areas, I like to connect with the student on their individual goals and what they want to work on in their lessons. My teachers from over the years would also assign me songs that I wasn't a fan of at first, but I soon learned to love from working on them. With my students, I find a balance in teaching them songs they already know and maybe some material that may be knew to them. Overall I know what makes a great musicians ad how to encourage what my students envision for themselves to life.

LESSON STYLE

I love to acknowledge and take notice of the accomplishments of my students. Through this process they are encouraged to dive deeper into the learning process and are curious about varying aspects of music. Typically I will recommend certain books or provide students with sheet music. I have access to various resources and videos of some of the most famous session players. Depending on the indiviudal interest of the student I can cater my teaching style to fit their specific stylistic and muscial interests.
