Overview:
I'm a graduate of The University of Nevada Las Vegas where I earned my Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies and Drum Set. During my studies at UNLV, I traveled to Australia to perform at the Adelaide Fringe Festival (February 2009). I also held the college marketing representative position in Las Vegas for Warner Music Group. I hold a B.A. in Percussion Performance from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. During my studies at Kutztown, I had the opportunity to perform at the Paris Conservatory for the Perkumania Percussion Festival (November 2006); Argentina for the 5th Patagonia Percussion Festival (June 2007); Bangkok, Thailand for the College Music Society International Convention (July 2007); Toronto, Canada for the IAJE Conference (January 2008).  I perform locally with the various, country, jazz and folk groups weekly.  I also operate an audio post production studio.
EXPERIENCE
I started teaching when I was 18, still in high school.  I have been taking lessons for 15 years at that point, and felt the need to share my experiences and knowledge with everyone around me.  I found a lesson studio that had students for me to teach and since then I have been teaching private lessons, group classes, drum circles and at the professional college level for 12 years.  While teaching, I try to incorporate my professional experiences and relate those to concepts that the student is working on.  I feel that I have struggled and have had a lot of learning experience in my musical career that could be very discouraging to a lot of people and I want to help my students avoid those situations in order to have the best possible musical experience available.
METHODS USED
For beginning students, I create my own lessons, starting with proper technique, basic rhythms and introduction to music theory, but only related to rhythms at first.  After a couple lessons, we start to focus on the fundamental rudiments and short solo pieces incorporating those rudiments.  For the more advanced student, I try to find out their goals and expectations and try to align and incorporate those with studies in technique and theory.  The goal is to keep students interested, lessons fun while growing their experience and proficiency at their instrument.
LESSON STYLE
My approach to teaching is to keep students interested, lessons fun, all while growing their experience and proficiency at their instrument.  Positive feedback is very important and is something I do in every lesson.  Constantly communicating with them on how they are feeling, staying updated on their goals and aspirations as well as letting them know what my expectations are from them, help create a positive learning environment.  Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a student understand a concept and express the feeling of wanting to learn more!

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
