Overview:
I began my first tour as a drummer when I was only 13 years old. Since then, I have gone on to tour with many bands. I am the writer and drummer for symphonic metal act Rapheumets Well. I can teach music theory, instrument blending, drumming, novice guitar, bass, as well as piano. I can teach the student how to play from building a deep principles in mechanics. This includes: rudiments, drills, and a didactic comphehension of anatomy as my graduate degree is in medicine. Prospective students will not only learn how to play, but how to even self record profeiciently. I teach martial arts and with the combination of medical education, martial arts, and musical theory each student will develope a unique proficiency in their musical craft.
EXPERIENCE
I am by trade a teacher. I used to develop and run the drumming camps when I was the marching captain. I have played live since I was 13 years of age, as such I can relay this expereince as it is a drummers goal to be the tactical metrenome of a musical project both live, studio, and for self worth. Because I also write symphonic scores, I can assist the student in developing their own unique material. I have toured many times in both rock and metal projects. This expereince helps me in preparing my students for live performances if they wish to go this route. My marching expereince can help my students who are interested in marching or concert band. I have worked with many students who want to take their marching skills to the next level. Speed drumming is one of my personal forte's. As such, I can assist the student in developing a unique ability to play at any speeds comfortably.
METHODS USED
Principles and structure. This is the only way to learn. When you build a house, you spend more money in setting the foundation. This is my tactic. Every one wants to learn to play efficiently, but this takes time and qualatative effort. Rudiments and drills will be every students daily practice. Any one can hit a cymbal and kick a drum, but only some one who spends quality time can develop skills to adapt to any and all musical genres. Each student will understand the anatomy of the body, the physics in which energy is transfered to optimize their ability. All styles are welcomed as drums are the heart and rythm of any musicial composition.When the fundementals are mastered, you can tailor your technique to jazz, country, rock, metal, etc...
LESSON STYLE
Success will come to those who not only attempt to learn, but those who become obsessed with learning. Time is not important to me. If a student is willing to learn, I am willing to teach. To watch someone unravel the principles to music, to learn that with time and effort that they can play and express themselves to the level of any professional is very rewarding to me. All musical preferences welcomed.
