I absolutely love teaching and love to help musicians reach their goals! I have had the privilege of teaching students over this past year and my love for teaching has grown so much that I want to teach more! I have had the privilege of playing in Florida's premier youth orchestras and even got the chance to play for the Baltimore Symphony! I have also had the privilege of recording several projects for solo artists and bands. My love for the cello knows no bounds! It is the instrument of the soul!
I have roughly two years of teaching experience (interspersed). In the past, I have not had the chance to grow my business due to the lack of time to devote to it. Recently, my schedule has become more flexible and I would love to add more students! I took six years of cello lessons under some of central Florida's most esteemed teachers. I have also had the same priviledge with the piano. It is my desire to see students reach their goals by giving them a solid technical base upon which they can build their personal sound! I find that once the basics are down, it is so much fun to start to incorporate the student's specific desires (wanting to learn classical or pop). THAT is what makes practice so much fun. When you are passionate about what you are doing, you can't help but pick up your instrument and practice! I am looking to add beginning to intermediate students of all ages and interests!
I use the Suzuki method for strings. I was classically trained in this method. I find that this method is an excellent way for beginners to gain basic technique and learn at their own pace. It is also great for intermediate students as the transition into this method does not take long once I have evaluated the student's skill level. The most important part of what I teach is to HAVE FUN! If it gets too laborious, then I will try to adjust to the student's desires. I can also push those who are more serious and desire to get into orchestras.
My teaching style tends to adapt to the particular student. Nobody likes someone who comes on too strong or is completely set in their ways. I want to get to know you! I then try to bring my approach into the picture. I have a very engaging teaching style. I feel that getting constant feedback from the student is very important. The last thing I want is a confused student! My hope is that the student discovers their sound and takes off with it!
