I am currently attending Del Mar College And Texas A&M Corpus Christi studying for my degree in Applied Music.
One of my earliest memories from my childhood was sitting on my fathers lap banging and banging away on my uncles drum kit. My mother says I was 9 months old the first time I had ever played the drums. I come from a family of musicans. My father was a guitarist ,my mother was a saxophonist and my uncle was a drummer also. For as long as I can remeber I have Always played the drums. I started learning music formaly in middle school where I studied under head band director Mr.Adan Molina. studying the basic of concert percussion and marching music. Later I went on play for The Moody HS Drum Line Where Studied under my drum instructor and band director mr. Jesse Riojas. I played on the drum line for about 3 years before departing to start my own musical endevours. I haved played in a variety of band from many different genres ranging from Heavy metal to Jazz. I have had the opportunity to tour a vast majority of the country performing original music.
I am musician and private instructor from the Corpus Christi area with over 20 years of experience playing in multiple groups in many genres. I began teaching at the age of 18 my first student was a 24 year old who was an older brother of a friend. He took weekly one hour lessons with me until he felt he was ready to play with other musicians. He later linked up with some musicans and went on to start his own band. I enjoy helping students unlock the gift of music within themselves. Helping students discover avenues of expression they felt were once impossible. Encouraging students to play out as much as possible. Whether it be a formal recital, compitions or gig.
For students who are just beginning, I typically start with Alfreds Drum Method Book 1. Mostly for learning basic music notaion and theory. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I begin to introduce drum set music notation and theory from the Tommy Igoes Groove Essentials 1.0 book. For adult students we tend to work on whatever the the students interested in,and guide my lessons accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun ,no matter their skill level.
Course Discription: Private instruction on drumset. One hour lessons offered in-home or at TFC rehersal studios. Students will receive Private instruction,learning how to develop their musicianship abillities on the selected instument (drum set) through practice and performance of a variety of techniques,exercises and music.
