I am a very caring and passionate instructor who wants to bring the best out of my students. I graduated from College of the Ozarks with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Theater Performance. I am a part of a music group called, "And He Walks With Me" and I have the immense privilege of traveling with the group across the country, spreading the message of Christ's love and mercy. I am currently performing in a show called, "Men of Faith" at Chestnut Fine Arts Center in Olathe, KS. I am excited about what the Lord has in store for the future with music and performing.
I have experience in teaching voice and drums, dating back to my last semester in college. I have been able to teach young kids the absolute privilege of singing and performing. I really encourage my students to keep practice and warm up times at the top of their priority list. Improving your voice and performance abilities starts with warming up. I also encourage them to enter as many competitions as they can, as well as auditioning for as many shows across the country as they can, so that they can be noticed and people can see what they can do! I want to expand my studio and be able to teach as many people as I can!
For the young students who are just starting out in vocal lessons I like to recommend starting with the proper breathing techniques and moving in to singing from the diaphragm and more experienced techniques will follow after that. After we have touched on those techniques we will move in to the performance portion of the lessons and how to connect with the song and then being able to portray the message of the song clearly and efficiently to the audience so that they can connect to the emotions that are coming from the song. I always want to have a fun and enjoyable time with the students and have them feel like they are able to make mistakes, because if you don't make mistakes, there is no way to improve and get better while honing your craft.
As I said above, I always want to have a fun and low-stress environment in my studio. There is nothing worse than coming in to studio practice time tight and stressed about how you may sound. There is no judgement in my studio. Everyone makes mistakes, yes, including me! (Haha) And there is no better way to improve than to make a confident mistake, because that is how we learn how to get better and what we can improve on! There will always be positive reinforcement, but also constructive criticism. Positive reinforcement always helps to fuel the passion about singing and help my students know that they are doing a good job, and there is always room for improvement.
