I grew up playing music in church while listening to many different styles of music and learning from playing with many different musicians. I played in Middle School and High School Concert Band, Jazz Band, Pep Band, and Pit Orchestra at Lancaster Mennonite School in Lancaster Pennsylvania. I enjoy teaching and giving back to younger musicians who are willing to learn, grow and sharpen their craft to better their musical abilities. I am grateful for the gift that the Lord gave me and to share it with others.
My Desire to teach came 8 years ago when I gave a Latin Bass Class at Gerald Veasley's Bass Bootcamp in Philadelphia Pennsylvania and from there I was mentoring young and older musicians who were passionate about learning how to play bass. It's a great feeling to pass on knowledge and wisdom to others based on what I've learned throughout the years as a musician While I am always learning something new everyday. No Matter how old you are it is never too late to start because it is a journey and a process.
I like to put together a teaching method that is simple for the students to understand and being able to apply from that they've learned. For the beginner and intermediate players I will be going over Basic Fundamentals such as Tone, Technique, Groove, Listening and Studying different styles of music, and Developing Good Playing Habits, and Words of Wisdom. Also it is very important for beginners and intermediate students to develop a great sense of timing when practicing at slow, medium and fast tempos.
My goal is to bring joy and a positive energy to the students who want to further their musical journey while having the passion and hunger to learn, study, and apply anything for what will be valuable to them. Also I want the students to feel happy and satisfied with whatever they are capable of learning and not being afraid to go the distance of becoming a better musician while taking their instrument serious because the more passion you have for music, the better commitment you'll show in the end.
