I have been professional musician and a private teacher form many years. I’ve travel the world playing Jazz, Broadway shows, Latin Music, Tango, Rock & Pop. I have worked for 15 years in a Big Band that performed educational concerts and brought live performances and exposure to musical instruments to kinder gardens elementary middle and high schools that sometimes did not have the luxury of a music program. As a private music instructor I have noticed that many students specially adults that want to approach music through the saxophone get frustrated because they don't learn how to play music until they have learned how to play their instrument and many of them quit within the first year. I believe that every student need different things and the teacher should have the ability to reed those needs and find ways to let the student learn at it's own pace and more importantly make the student to be eager to get in the practice room because it's a fun experience. I'm an active musician and I love to share my experiences with people that are willing to learn and benefit from them.

Learning music is a lifetime pursuance. Through the years I've seen different results using the same methods. With that experience in mind, I have developed my own practical and comprehensive way of teaching based on the needs of the student rather than an established curriculum. For beginners, we will work in a more formal manner until basic required technique is achieved, however we will play music from the very beginning. I use both the french methods Klose and Druet because they cover a lot of the needed technique but I treat each case differently depending on the students needs and aspirations.
They are many ways of achieving a good technique while learning music and training our ears. I have developed my own method through the years. You will not only learn how to play the saxophone but you will also learn how to improvise in different styles based on the tradition of blues and jazz while better understanding melodies and harmony.
For advanced students we will work on improvisation, harmony, transcriptions, and specific needs. We will also learn standards and work with backing tracks. I will also provide advanced students with the necessary tools to become proficient at sight reading. This is very important if you want to become a working musician. We can also work on an established curriculum if the student needs help with a specific subject.
My style is to understand the needs of the student first and only then decide how to approach our lessons. Everybody needs to go at a different pace and not all students need the same things. I like to see my students become proficient sax players but I feel that the job is only complete when they become good musicians. The saxophone is an instrument with limitless possibilities and it is a joy to play when we see the results that we are looking for. An adult trying to learn how top play the blues or approaching the saxophone as a hobby will feel frustrated if the teacher has him doing only technique exercises for two years. On the other hand a young student with different goals will need a different training. Everybody is different and I firmly believe in that. I also believe that as a teacher you can always learn something new and that's what I try to do every day.
