Overview:
I am a passionate musician and educator that wants to help spread love and appreciation of music throughout the world. I believe that music has a great capacity to heal and unite people; it is truly a universal language. I have a great passion for classical music, jazz, and music from different cultures around the world. I compose, arrange, and perform as a soloist and collaborator. I have studied piano performance at the Alfred Cortot School in Paris, at Florida Atlantic University, and at Algoma University in Canada- the latter from which I graduated in 2016. I have studied with renowned pianists and teachers that include: Dr. Adam Aleksander, Sergei Sichkov, Andrei Gorog, Dr. Irena Kofman, and Dr. Anne Louise-Turgeon.
EXPERIENCE
I have more than seven years of experience teaching and performing classical music as well as accompanying instrumentalists, choirs, and singers. I have experience with classical solo piano music, chamber music, orchestral music, jazz, musical theater, Latin-American music, and popular music. I have played in master classes with Alexander Beridze and Conrad Tao. I have played with the FAU Symphony Orchestra and the Algoma University Jazz Ensemble. I have collaborated with instrumentalists and singers, accompanied choirs, and worked as a church pianist and organist.
METHODS USED
For children who are at a beginner level, I like to use Piano Adventures until they reach level 2B, and then switch them over to the piano series edited by Keith Snell from the Neil A. Kjos Piano Library to introduce them to the serious study of classical music and theory. At this point, I also begin to create my own lesson plans to introduce them to musical concepts and repertoire they otherwise would not encounter in the conventional methods. For adults, I use a similar approach, but before introducing them to independent serious study of classical repertoire, I like using a combination of the Bastien Piano for Adults two-book method and books from the Neil A. Kjos Piano Library.
LESSON STYLE
“Treat people as if they were what they ought to be and you help them to become what they are capable of becoming.” -Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. I am looking forward to sharing the enriching universal language of music with you. I am here to encourage and inspire my students and to help them reach their full potential and discover their love for music. I teach the fundamentals of piano playing- including proper healthy technique, artistry, music history, and music theory. I want to help my students be the best that they can be by challenging them to push themselves to the next level. I promote critical exploration, experimentation, and self-discovery so that students can discover and develop their own musical ideas, voice, and personality. One method that I employ to accomplish this is by encouraging my students to improvise and compose their own musical visions.
