As a recent graduate of the Eastman School of music, I am dedicated to the arts and passionate about teaching students of all ages. I am a friendly, outgoing and motivating teacher who will work with each student individually to develop lesson plans that correspond to what they are hoping to learn. I am passionate about musical theatre and classical singing and have a wealth of knowledge in both styles. I am flexible and excited to help students feel comfortable in many different genres with a healthy and consistent technique.
I have experience teaching private students from beginner to advanced levels and with students of all ages. Teaching voice requires the knowledge to help shape and expand technique in a healthy and appropriate manner, which I have developed during my years at Eastman. I also encourage my students to explore all different genres and work to apply the technique across all styles. I myself have performed in many musical productions and operas. I am a lover of choral music and have performed with multiple choirs at a Eastman.
While teaching, I create a very friendly and welcome environment. Comfort between the student and teacher is critical in order to progress with technique and repertoire. I open the floor to questions, concerns and truly want to hear what the students’ perspectives are. With beginner students, the primary focus is on breath management, developing flexibility between ranges, and applying technique to repertoire. For more advanced singers, I am able to help prepare for auditions or performances and focus more on the quality and control of the voice.
After receiving an Arts Leadership certificate from Eastman in addition to my BM, I am a huge advocate for music in society and believe it is a universal language that anyone should have access to, no matter age, ability, etc. I want my students to feel empowered and believe that they have a place in the world of music, because there is room for everyone! I encourage them to “find their voice” and use the confidence they develop through singing to forward themselves in other endeavors, musical or otherwise.
