Overview:
Incredibly passionate about music, I hope to share my love of singing with my students and inspire them to find their authentic voice! With a background in musical theater, jazz, folk and classical, I am willing to work with students on finding their own favorite repertoire in different styles. In 2014, I graduated Sarah Lawrence College with a B.A. in Liberal Arts, studying music, theater and French. I have studied at the Schola Cantorum with Odile Descols and The Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris with Anne-Marie Rodde in Paris, France. My current teacher is Eileen Heaton. Favorite performances include Catherine in Offenbach's Pomme d'Api in Perigueux, France, and Ms. Bentson in Delibes' Lakme. Musical theater roles include: Sandy in Grease, Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof, and Marcy in I Love You Because.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience begins with my job as an English Language teaching assistant at the Lycee Honore de Balzac in Paris, France from 2014 to 2015. I have also taught English to young French children ages 3 to 14, and tutored for the GMAT exam. Whether it's singing or English, I encourage playfulness and fun in my lessons, but also concentration and following the interests of my students. The voice is very personal, close to our hearts, and should be encouraged to sound its own x22note,x22 not to imitate others. I will work with my students on breathing, (essential to easeful singing) and allow them to explore repertoire that peaks their interest, as well as suggest some things that may be helpful for working on some aspect of technique.
METHODS USED
When it comes to a specific method, I like to start with the student's needs, interests and abilities and go from there. No one student is the same, and no one approach will work for everyone. I try to remain flexible and start from a place of positive reinforcement, then try to work with the student on developing other areas of their singing technique. This way, the student remains confident in their potential to learn and grow without getting discouraged. Generally, though, in a first lesson, I will have a student sing something that they love, to get a sense of their level and where their passion lies, discussing with them what they hope to work on and planning from there. I will always give them something to work on for the following week, either a piece they choose, or something I find for them that lines up with their interests.
LESSON STYLE
The most important thing that I can convey to a student is the knowledge that to create music, one must be willing to continue learning for the rest of one's life, and to enjoy that process of discovery. Focus on the process is key, rather than reaching for some imagined goal of absolute perfection. To make progress is to fully invest in the moment, to work on and explore one concept at a time. I want to inspire confidence in my students, hoping that they will come to understand that with every little step forward, every time a fear is faced, whether that be stepping onto stage for the first time, or just opening their mouth to sing, they are building trust in their own abilities. By finding out where the student's passion lies, I can take that passion and help lead the student to further mastery and development of their gifts.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
