I am a jazz vocalist who is new to the New York area! I graduated from the Frost School of Music, Magna Cum Laude, with a degree in jazz voice in May 2023. I am currently working towards my master's degree at The Manhattan School of Music. I have been a private vocal and piano teacher for 6 years. I specialize in musical theater and jazz voice. I am an experienced beginner piano teacher, I do especially well with young beginners. I have taught ages 4-75 and love to build relationships with all of the families I work with. I am very passionate about performing, music history, and traveling the country sharing music!
I started teaching in high school. I was a successful performer, so people started asking if I teach. I studied and took online classes to strengthen my musical and vocal knowledge as a 16-year-old. I started teaching and built a successful 20-person studio in California for two years. Because of my time at the Frost School of Music, I have built a studio in Miami as well. A big part of my teaching is music appreciation and connecting my student's passions with new musical knowledge. I have found it very motivating, especially for children with trouble focusing. All of my students have different journeys with me. I like to personalize all of my lessons and keep them student-oriented.
All of my students have personalized lesson plans. I take into account their learning style, their musical passions, where they struggle, and where they thrive. With beginning vocal and piano students who are younger, I often use a music theory book right away. I use the Hal Leonard theory books and the Full Voice Vocal Series books. For my adult students, I do a lot of my own worksheet-making. When it comes to vocal repertoire, I pick everything individually. We do a mix of songs that I think will benefit the student and their technique, and songs my students are passionate about. It is very important to me that my students are having fun and feel engaged.
As I said, all of my students have individual experiences with music and learning! The most important thing to me is progress and passion, at any pace and in any style. A big part of my lessons is setting goals together and checking in on those goals every couple of weeks. Another important thing I try to keep at the center of our lessons is the idea that we only can get as much out of these lessons as we put in. I like to discuss a practice schedule with my students. Again, this is completely personalized. Every growing musician is different and it is important to set realistic goals!
I recently had the pleasure of taking online voice lessons with June, focusing on jazz voice and musical theater. I can confidently say that it has been an absolutely fantastic experience. June is not only considerate of my goals, but she also creates a customized learning path that perfectly suits my current level of singing and aspirations. Her warm-up exercises ensure steady progress, and her deep knowledge in music and jazz changes the way I understand and approach repertoires from diverse perspective. What sets June apart is her infectious and uplifting energy. She brings a vibrant and positive attitude to every lesson, making them so enjoyable. Thanks to June's enthusiasm, I have been inspired to practice diligently every day, knowing that improvement and achieving my goals are within reach. In conclusion, June is an exceptional teacher who brings expertise, passion, and positivity to her lessons. I look forward to take offline lessons with her in the future, as I am certain that the experience will be even more remarkable. I highly recommend her to anyone!
My daughter takes online voice lessons with June. I have seen such a positive change in her abilities and her confidence has grown. She is trying new songs and going on auditions. All of this has happened because of June’s style of teaching and passion for music. I feel very blessed that my kid has such a caring and professional teacher. June is definitely on the top of my recommendation list.
My kids and I took singing lessons with June for an entire year while she was living in Miami, until the end of June 2023. I am 36 years old and my kids are 4 and 7. My kids and I loved taking lessons with her. She is very punctual and responsible. We would set up our schedule and lessons ahead of time and she would always be in our home at the times she said she would. She takes her lessons very seriously, which I greatly appreciate. I always look forward to my lessons with her. June makes my lessons exciting, motivating, and she is able to keep the difficulty level right where I need it: she teaches me, motivates me, and challenges me. She is very good at giving feedback in a constructive and friendly way. Even though I'm considered old for taking singing lessons, she always made me feel comfortable and kept me motivated to continue. I have improved significantly since taking lessons with her. June also remembers all these little details about all her students, which I find amazing, like what are the things that I like, where I struggle, how I struggle. Even though she has several students, she always remembers the little things that define me. Same thing goes for my kids. As far as my kids, she is very patient with small kids and has thought them a lot. As a mom, I know how difficult it is to keep a 4-year old engaged for more than a few minutes in a specific activity. June didn't have a problem with that. She is kind, patient, and smart when it comes to teaching small kids. My 4-year old sit next to next at the piano, listens to her and follows her instructions for an entire 30 minutes. So does my 7-year old. I like that she combines play and songs for fun with theory of music, still in a fun way. My kids like her very much, they have improved significantly in their singing and music skills, and have fun while learning with her. I wish June all the best in her endeavors in New York. I know she will be great with her new students. Thank you, June! We will miss you.
I've been taking lessons with June for 1 year, both in person and on Zoom. She is amazing at helping me develop my personal artistry and style to make a song come alive. She teaches dynamics, tone, pronunciation, and rhythm in a way that helps you change the way you sing a song from what’s written on the page to what’s written in your heart. She’s great to communicate with, reliable and punctual. June is a passionate and enthusiastic teacher and I definitely recommend her to anyone interested in improving their singing!
