I love music and I love teaching music. I have been playing and writing music since 2002. I have written over 150 songs and have been lucky enough to tour around the USA as a singer songwriter in 2008-2012. I have had the opportunity to play with artists such as; Needtobreathe, Brandon Heath, Jettison Never, Chris Picco, Matt Chancey and More. I have worked as the Worship Director for multiple churches, most recently being Crosswalk Church in Redlands California. A 2000 member attending church.
In 2005 I began teaching at Cohutta Springs Youth Camp for 7 summers. In 2012-2017 I partnered with the Chris Picco Music Academy in Redlands California as a guitar teacher. I am a singer songwriter, worship leader, and producer. I am passionate about students having fun and enjoying music. I listen to all kinds of music and have taught many different levels and styles. I have taught ages 6-62 and am wiling to adapt to each individual student. I can't wait to continue teaching to share the joy I have found in music.
I believe in teaching music as a positive experience. I want a student to be excited to come to lessons and excited to practice at home. Each student is unique and progresses differently. I work towards catering to each student's needs and making sure each student has obtainable goals within our lessons. For new students I like to focus on the basics and some simple songs that help a student feel accomplished pretty quickly. Accomplishing playing your first song is motivating to learn and play more. The further along in development in their lessons brings us to harder songs and more theory.
Once again, I believe in music being fun. I love music and want each student to walk away with the same experience if possible. I like to focus on training exercises as well as short songs. Whether a student is new or has been playing for 2 years, a lot of students have never gone through some simple exercises that help train your fingers and mind to make you an all around better musician. Exercises can feel like the daunting not so fun part, and that's a big reason I feel playing songs are a great way to find an obtainable goal.
