I am a dedicated and enthusiastic music teacher. I have found my great passion in music and I love spreading the joy of music to my students. I feel great accomplishment in my students' improvement. I graduated from Bowling Green State University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Musical Arts degree my and a minor in recreation. I played in numerous ensembles at the university and had the opportunity to play for and study with many flute teachers, I gained something different from each experience. My teaching philosophy is more about the love of music than anything else. I just want my students to be the best that they can be and I want them to find the love in music that I have.
With my primary insturment being flute, I began teaching private lessons in 2008 while I was still in high school. I taught the younger flute students in the Worthington School Distrct. When I started college, I continued to teach flute lessons and I then began teach saxophone lessons as well. I have been a flute technician for high school marching bands including Thomas Worthington, Slyvania Southview High School and Napoleon High School. I also tutored flute students in the Bowling Green school district for over a year.
As stated previously, I just want my students to enjoy playing their instrument. I hope that they will improve and be the best that they can be. I do my best to make private lessons fun as well as productive. I utilize the blue Rubank books for students of all levels. No matter how developed a student may be there is always something of value in these books. Of course, I utilize other method books as well as working on specific works by composers depending on what kind of music the students likes. I prefer to introduce my students to new kinds of music, and together we can decide what we will work on.
I feel that I can relate to most students, no matter their skill level or dedication. I found my passion in music later in the game than most, and I know that I can inspire young musicians to be all that they can be. I am primarily a teacher, but I also like to form a friendship with my students. I want to be someone they can look up to and reach out to if need be. I am there for my students 100%, they can ask me questions about music, or about life. My studio is a no judgement zone, which is also how I try to lead my life.
