Hello! My name is Kayla and I have been performing, recording and training for more than a decade. Music has always been a part of my life and I have a bachelor's degree in business and music. I absolutely love sharing my knowledge with others and helping my community through teaching, volunteering and giving them the wonderful gift of music! I am a vocalist, mult-instrumentalist and song-writer. I have performed with famous pop stars such as Kelly Clarkson and Ashley Simpson and performed all over the Saint Louis metro area. If you're ready to learn a new skill or refine your current skill-set, I'm ready to help!
I began teaching almost five years ago privately freshly out of high school. I taught for two years privately and then taught with a music company for the last two and one-half years. Because of my extensive classical and jazz training, teaching beginning all the way to advanced students was a pleasure. I have found that every student has their own learning style and that it is my duty as an instructor to adapt to their particular learning style. I pride myself on being a versatile, engaging and personable instructor.
My teaching style may vary depending upon the student. I have several books and other teaching material available for my students. These include: Berkley Music Theory I and II, several Hal Leonard, and Fischer books and more! Lesson material will mostly depend upon the student's goals and current skill-set. EVERY lesson will consist of: assessing and tracking the student's skill-set, solidifying the student's goals along with my goals for the student, and creating a plan of action to follow in order to reach these goals.

Some students thrive on reward, some thrive on competition and some students thrive on praise etc. I have several books and other teaching material available for my students. Lessons with Kayla were very fun. I was preparing to audition for my women's chamber choir and with the help and guidance from Kayla, I made it! I highly recommend her as an instructor.
