I am a drummer and pianist with experience at all levels and styles of music performance and education. I am an educator in the music communities of Washington D.C., Nashville, New York City, Los Angeles and around the world. I was the Advanced Music Theory tutor with the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University, Program Administrator with the W.O. Smith Music School in Nashville, TN and Music Director with the National Dance Institute in New York, NY. For four years I toured the world as the music director of the production show orchestra, visiting hundreds of countries aboard many cruise lines. For the last 6 six years, I have taught general music in the classroom. For five years, I taught elementary school, grades K;4. For the last year, I have taught general music in middle school for grades 5th through 8th. Privately, I have taught students piano and percussion from all age groups and levels.

I create custom lesson plans for all my students, integrating their interests, strengths and weaknesses into a cohesive, dynamic education schedule. I incorporate a variety of different lesson books to ensure musical reading while encouraging consistent exercises in using our musical ear. I use modern music to inspire students to learn the songs they like. I also promote songwriting and other creative outlets to inspire students to find their own musical voice. I emphasize collaboration and interaction in my lessons, building in time for students to play with me, family members, friends or other students to build their musicality.
