I’m a fun but focused instructor who has been teaching for over 10+ years. After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2014, I spent 3 years touring the world with a variety of famous rock and pop groups playing some of worlds most famous venues. It taught me the value in hard work and dedication to a craft as well as teaching me organization and time management skills that I apply to every facet of my musical jobs. As well as teaching lessons in Boston, New Jersey, and New York, I have worked as a producer and engineer in my own studio since 2010, producing dozens of acclaimed songwriters and musicians. I have also composed music that has been featured on a variety of platforms and mediums.
I began teaching guitar in high school to middle school students and continued teaching children and adults throughout college. While in music college, I grew to start to teaching bass guitar as well as drums. My teaching style is focused yet fun. Me and my students always have a good time through my curriculum of theory and how it relates to music they enjoy. Whether it’s finding music theory in Taylor Swift song, or learning the guitar neck through a Beatles solo, I always find a way to teach through interests that the students have rather than force a cookie cutter approach. Each student is different and I find ways to make it fun and engaging no matter their age. I give each student a schedule for practicing at home as well as tips for making the most of your practice time. I have yet to have a student who hasn’t made improvement through my methods while also having fun!
For students who are children I like to start to start learning rhythms through common children’s songs to show how easy music can be. Depending on the instrument, one of the many Hal Leonard books is always a good option. If they are a little older, I will use music that they like to teach how music theory and fundamental skills makes up all the musi they enjoy. We will often learn songs that speak to them and I will use their favorite genres to curate new songs to teach and show them new material and how it relates to their instrument. No matter their ability, I always find ways to get through to my students and show them how everything is possible with practice and determination in their craft.
I enjoy teaching because I can always see how my methods really get through to my students. One of my strengths is finding the tools and key steps to success for my students by finding common styles and genres to make learning fun and worth practicing later. I listen to what my students want and I use it to teach what inspires them. I show them how with taking small steps, you can learn your instrument the proper way and achieve whatever goals you want. Since each student moves at their own pace, I motivate my students to push themselves while still enjoying their time with the instrument. My curriculum adapts to each student and I tune my instruction to their specific needs.
