Radio Program featuring my work
Creativity is our true nature. My lessons facilitate and nurture the true spirit of music from "outside of the box." Teaching songwriting is my favorite, but I can also teach basic intruments to beginners who are just getting started. I spent 4 decades writing songs and playing in bands. In the 2010s I had a radio program called "Jupiter's Jamboree" which ran live every Saturday night for 2 hours for 7 years. I utilized my recordings of my own original compositions and fused them with abstract sonic images to create a cohesive production.
My teaching experience goes back to the 1990s when I had my first guitar and piano students. I meet people "where they are." By that I mean that I see where the student is coming from, and bridge a link to a higher level of creative evolution that encompasses both technique and original thinking. I have had students video my lessons and post them online. I work with students on skills like improvisation, and co-writing. The right side of the brain is critical to supplement the basic math on in the left hemisphere. It is said that music is math. but in this case, math is fun!!!
My methods are for students who are interested in stepping outside of the box to free their own soul to channel the song within them. My methods are unique to each student. In fact, I treat teaching itself as a creative art. I teach students to teach themselves. Like a mother bird tossing the young bird out of the nest, I teach you to fly by throwing you up in the air, so to speak- metaphorically. As mentioned, if a student wishes to learn more basic fundamentals of music, we can go there as well. The fun is important.
I meet students "where they are". Of course this can mean I drive to their home, but I really mean that I see what level and interest YOU are at, then work on expanding your interest to new levels. I will have a general lesson plan that allows for adaptation to where the lessons go. The lessons should be viewed as an art in themselves. Of course I can also work with you on basic "uts and bolts" of music, such as fundamental relations in key signatures, harmony, chords, ect. I have a jazz and rock background, which lends itself to charts over written notation. I can work with advanced students with more complex elements such as polytonal and poly-timing dispositions in music as well.
