Overview:
I believe that teaching should be more about lighting a fire than filling up a vase. If I can motivate you by by making the journey of learning piano an exciting adventure, the rest will follow naturally. It’s a philosophy I’ve been applying for more than 25 years with great results.
EXPERIENCE
Chicago/Buffalo Grove Instruction of piano and music theory to children and adults. Students participated during the whole school year in piano competitions. Sunday School Music Teacher, 1990-March 1991. Taught and organized a choir ensemble. Taught piano and music theory. Music School, Kiev, Ukraine, 1980-1988
METHODS USED
The greatest inspiration for me is seeing my students get more and more excited each week about their lessons. To help you stay inspired and engaged, I vary my techniques and tailor each session to your needs. If you don’t read music, I play the lessons myself so you can record them with a smartphone and practice at home.
LESSON STYLE
During the lesson I ask you to play through your music. I will then ask you to play the music in many various ways that will hone the skills in all the areas you are trying to develop. With such first hand experience you will learn a great deal more than just how to play the notes correctly. You will have consequently incorporated artistry, piano technique, theory and ear training.
