I am a dedicated and determined voice teacher, with a passion rooted in the desire to develop a healthy vocal technique. In 2022, I graduated with my Master’s of Music in Vocal Performance from Binghamton University. Over the past ten years, I have spent time performing on stage in concerts, operas, and musical theatre. Some highlights of my singing career include touring through parts of Austria and Italy, working with music professionals from Juilliard, and competing in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition.
My most recent teaching experience occurred while I was working on my Master’s at Binghamton University. There, I had my own voice studio, comprised of top performing vocal students, as well a course open to any level of singers, which introduced them to a healthy singing technique. Prior to that, I had a privately run voice studio where I taught students both in person and online. In all of my years of experience teaching, my students have always found success in their singing. No matter what their goals are, we always find a way to meet and surpass them. Although I am a classically trained soprano, I have experience both singing and teaching Musical Theatre and contemporary styles of singing. I am open to helping my students achieve what interests them and makes them happy. While I expect my students to practice and get better during our time together, I also hope to foster an environment where they can feel that they can relax, have fun, and make mistakes.
The technique that I teach to my students has helped me sing for hours a day, and has gotten me through the most rigorous performances with no vocal strain or fatigue. I always introduce my students, no matter the age, to the Vaccai Vocal Methods book. This book has many exercises that takes the singer through all of the facets of their voice, and helps them hone their skills. If I find a student is too advanced for the book, we usually jump right into solo repertoire. I find it crucial to make sure the foundation of the voice is there before moving onto solo repertoire. By doing so, we can ensure the singing is always safe, healthy, and beautiful. In addition to teaching a healthy vocal technique, I strive to maintain a positive and uplifting environment for my students. I believe technique is important to become a successful singer, but feeling relaxed and comfortable while learning is just as important. I always encourage my students to ask questions and give honest feedback to how they are feeling through out their lesson.
There is nothing I love more than watching my students meet their singing goals and further their love of music. I meet all of my students where they are, and work with whatever skill set they have, to help them become the musicians they dream of being. I do this by encouraging regular practice sessions, and assigning music that they are passionate about learning. I always acknowledge their accomplishments, big or small, because they all matter and are all a crucial part of becoming better. I have worked with a wide range of students abilities and have been able to successfully tailor my instruction to what they need. As their teacher, I am not here to criticize, I am here to encourage, uplift, and put them on the path to vocal health and success.
