I am a passionate musician and educator. I have sung around the world, have had one of the best educations imaginable and love to pass along my experience to my students. I have worked with classically trained singers and musical theater singers alike. Some have gone on to sing at opera houses and some sing for enjoyment. I enjoy teaching beginner and intermediate saxophone students, and beginner piano students as well.
My teaching experience started when I was a musician at the University of Maryland. I was able to work with undergraduate vocal students and had a private studio where I worked with students over the DC/Baltimore area. I continued my teaching at the Doral conservatory of music where I worked with many young singers hoping to get into some of the best private music schools in the Miami area.
For all students I believe in technique. For vocal students I start with working on how to have a free flowing sound and work on the natural sounds that can be created by each individual students. Many people "create" their sounds, trying to mimic someone they have heard in the past. I can help foster the best sound for you and apply it to repertoire that is appropriate and that you enjoy!! As far as saxophone and piano, I begin at the beginning. Finding music that you enjoy playing and go from there.
I feel that mapping out individual progressions is very important. There are basics that everyone benefits from, and from there work a plan for you!
