2008- Concert master for high school orchestra
2014- Earned teaching license
I graduated from Wright State University in May of 2014 and received my teaching license in December 2014. I have performed in many different groups including Cincinnati Boychoir, May Festival Youth Chorus, Great Miami Youth Symphony, Wright State University Chamber Orchestra, and the Hamilton Fairfield Chorale. I have been teaching privately since I was 17 and I have always had a passion for kids. While I was in high school, I was concert master for our trip to New York City. While at Wright State University, I performed 5 solo concerts. While I was in the Cincinnati Boychoir, I had a chance to perform with the Honolulu Symphony and Chorus. Since 2007, I have sung the national anthem for the Cincinnati Reds every season. I am currently teaching students in kindergarten through eighth grade at 2 local catholic schools in Cincinnati.
I have been teaching privately for twelve years, and I have many different styles of teaching. I focused all of my lessons on what the goals are, and what are in the students best interests. Since I was nine years old I knew that I wanted to be involved in teaching music to others especially children. Every person should have a chance to learn music, and I strive to help students reach there goals every lesson. When I am teaching in the classroom or privately, I am funny, engaging and fun to be around. A lot of my students tell me that I am their favorite music teacher because I make learning fun.
For all of my beginning students I use the Suzuki method. I am a very fast paced teacher, and I hold all of my students to high standards. As my students get into more advanced music, I select solo literature that best fits their musical abilities. For my vocal students I select music that is appropriate for them from the very beginning. For my male vocal students, I coach them through the voice change, which is a rewarding experience for me. We work on using the head voice and the transition to the changed voice.
I move at a very quick pace, but I have my students set their own goals. While I will select the literature for the student, I want them to feel successful when they are working with me. I want students to be confident and successful, so I will do anything in my power to help them learn good technique and practice habits. Teaching students has been a rewarding experience for me, and I believe that I can make a difference in their lives.< When students are practicing, I want them to practice scales for instruments, and vocal warmups for voice before starting on the assigned work for the next lesson. Students and parents are always encouraged to email or call me if they have questions about what they should be doing. I am reachable at all times. /p>
