Overview:
I have been a professional musician since I ws 14 years old.  I enjoying accompanying and have played many musical theatre productions, recitals, church services, and choral concerts.  I have taught privately and in public schools since the late 1970's.   My greatest thrill is working with students who are eager to learn, willing to practice at their craft, and willing to laugh and have a good time.  Sharing musical talent is so easy and so rewarding.  Playing and/or singing can always have an impact on others that is not possible in any other way.  As a teacher, I always got to perform WITH my students, which other teachers don't get to do.  Those are cherished memories--both mine and my students--because we did it together.  We created beauty, we created memories, and we created other musicians.  Join us!
EXPERIENCE
I have done musical theatre professionally since I was 17 years old.  I have musically directed over 80 productions working with people from 5-85 years of age.  I have taught piano, French horn, and voice privately.  I have done school productions, community theatre, and Equity productions.  I have played in professional orchestras. I have taught choral music, Music Theory, AP Music Theory, IB Music, Music Appreciation, Drama, IB Theatre, IB CAS and IB Extended Essay.  My favorite teaching is one-on-one teaching and coaching with interested students.
METHODS USED
I generally use different methods with different students.  Since I expect excellence, I tend to treat students as professional colleagues, expecting them to work as hard and effectively as I do.  I tend to develop my own methods as we progress, encouraging introspection by the student and developing a sense of musical independence.  Success is subjective; enjoying one's journey is not.  If a student is not enjoying the process then what's the use?  For vocal coaching, I use a variety of warm-ups discovered over the years and music from all styles for technique, diction studies, sight reading practice, and ear training.
LESSON STYLE
I like to enjoy myself, whether it's working or specifically NOT working.  I am enthusiastic, positive, funny, caring, and dedicated to my craft and my students.  I have a talent for adapting to different situations quickly and (usually) successfully.   My experiences have been in all genres of music and on several different instruments.  If you want to learn, I want to teach.  We're a perfect match!

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
