I am a singer who loves working with students of all ages and sharing my love of music. In 2002, I graduated from Musik-Akademie Basel, Switzerland with a Bachelor of Arts degree in vocal Jazz Performance and piano. I have performed with bands in Europe, South America and the US. I self produced, written and recorded two albums where I bring my jazz and south American influences. My continuing education never stopped, as I have been studying classical singing for many years as well as recording and audio techniques.
My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private voice students in Switzerland. When I moved to California in 2003 I continued teaching in my home studio and at music stores in my area. Slowly I started to expand my expertise into different genres and incorporate piano and guitar in my lessons. I have prepared many students to get roles in Musical Theatre Local Plays, pass auditions to Performing Arts Programs and prepared them to get admitted into music colleges. In the last years I started to compile and write my own methods and material which I provide during my lessons.
For beginning piano students who are children, I use Piano Adventures books. I also mix it with songs they might like and I can adapt to their level. I encourage my piano young students to sing a bit too. For adults who want to learn how to comp in the piano while they sing, I teach chord theory and rhythm patters, also sight reading if they are interested. Young Voice students I teach basic vocal warm ups and songs appropriate for their age and range. I follow the type of music they are interested in and I also suggest other genres. Students who pursue Musical Theatre are encouraged to get their own books with audio accompaniments. I am always willing to suggest fitting songs to all of my students based on their level, range, style and personality. With Adults singers I have a flexible curriculum based on their musical background/interest and goals. I offer vocal technique for contemporary commercial music, also musicianship (rhtyhm and ear training) and incorporate style into their songs.
My job is to motivate, instruct and make sure the students learn something new in every lesson, also develop a better understanding of music which leads to a more joyful experience while practicing and listening. My motto is "learning can be fun". Teaching voice requires a full dedication to understand each unique voice and find the tools, songs, exercises, that will make the student grow as a singer. Putting all my years of experience in the music business as a performer and coach I can tailor my instruction to their needs.
