Awards:
When I attended The Longy School of Music I was awarded a
Scholarship for Music Performance in Clarinet.
Overview:
When I was in middle school I developed a strong passion for music performance and teaching. I went to a performing arts high school called The Dreyfoos School of the Arts in West Palm Beach Florida where I excelled in perforance on clarinet and saxophone. Knowing that I wanted to major in music the performing arts high school helped me very much. I attended The Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA, The Boston Conservatory in Boston, MA, and Boston University in Boston, MA. I have been teaching clarinet and saxophone for eleven years and I love it.
EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching clarinet and saxophone for eleven years both in groups and privately. Occasionally I perform with local orchestras and bands.
METHODS USED
I use Standard of Excellence books with my students and I look for appropriate repertoire for the clarinet and saxophone. I choose music that is at the proper level for the student I am teaching.
LESSON STYLE
I start of my lessons by asking how much the student practiced for the week. Then I ask them if there was anything that was confusing for them so we can work on that first. I let the student pick what they want to start with first and then I will pick the next exercise. I finish with giving them a homework assignment and making sure they understand what to practice for next week.
