You can visit my bandcamp site by googleing, lauriedavis.bandcamp.com for original music and other links where you can hire or view videos. On This Musika Profile I have added some videos for your viewing to help you decide on me as your music teacher! Enjoy!

EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience dates back to the 1980's where I have taught Music Classes involving singing of worship music in religious elementary schools as well as teaching music theory, and music history. I was also a preschool teacher and taught preschool music enrichment classes. After school hours I enjoy teaching in my own home music studio, but due to pandemic have now switched to online music lessons. Teaching the guitar or drums to my students is very rewarding for it allows me to share my passion for music, keep music alive where as sometimes music is not present enough in this world, and to see my students progress and shine as they smile when they achieve a new musical goal! I am now also teaching in home music lessons to people in my town of Cranbury or neighboring towns that are within 5 miles radius of my area since the mandates have been lifted.
METHODS USED
For very young guitar students I use Dick Bennett's books 1,2, 3 to start and then as the students progress we will continue to Mel Bay books 1, and 2 then proceed to chord books and charts, some knowledge that i will personally pass on such as finger exercise's and scales, use of the I pad and some guitar apps as well. I will also share my library of songs with them and show them how to play songs they enjoy as requested. For young beginning drum students, I begin with stick control exercises on drum pad. I teach music notation. They will learn how to read drum music as well as some general music theory that will help them to understand universal music theory a well. I teach the styles of rock, pop, folk, blues, and jazz style as well as marching band style. If you are a intermediary student in either instrument I will access your level and continue as I see fit to take you to the next level of expertise.
LESSON STYLE
I so enjoy when a student is passionate about music and learning their instrument. I try very hard to make learning their instrument fun. Yes I do let them know that Practice Makes Perfect but at the same time I let them know that I do understand that sometimes life gets busy. We will continue to learn, enjoy, and laugh as much as we can during lessons and stress practice but be compassionate to their situations . I will teach them at their pace and include songs at their level to make it interesting. In Dec I do Christmas Songs, Duets with my students and as they progress I will even pair them with a student on the same instrument to duet with or with a drum or guitar student (different from their instrument ) to get a band feel! That is always so awesome for all involved! By trying to find out what inspires each student I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs.

Hi. My name is Nicole and I am one of Laurie's guitar students. Laurie is an incredible teacher and she makes our lessons so fun. I've always wanted to learn how to play guitar, so I started taking guitar lessons from Laurie D. in March. I learned so much such as playing many different chords, playing notes, finger picking, and playing all kinds of songs. I learned how to play many pop songs such as Play That Song by Train, Memories by Maroon 5, The Rose by Bette Midler, Betty by Taylor Swift, and so much more. Every day my love for guitar keeps growing and growing, and I always want to continue learning more things. Laurie Davis has definitely inspired me in so many ways and I can't wait to continue taking lessons from her.

I am one of Laurie's drum students. She is a great teacher. One I like is that we start playing along with real songs from the beginning of our lessons instead of just playing only the exercises from the book by themselves. I have learned a lot from her lessons and I definitely recommend her.

My 5 year old daughter learns guitar from Laurie. She loves it! Laurie is very patient with her. She makes the classes fun for the kids by trying to teach them songs they are familiar with. If you are looking for a music teacher I would highly recommend her.

I am one of Laurie’s guitar students, and she’s an excellent teacher. During the last two months, she helped me in learning how to handle a guitar and my music skills have improved a lot. I was able to play for my mom’s 50th birthday. Thanks to Laurie, my mom enjoyed her surprise party! I am honored to be her student and I definitely recommend her!

I am in the beginning stage of learning drums, and just in 4 classes, Laurie gave me a lot of confidence in the way she teaches the drums. Her elegant way of giving step by step instructions on basics, drum-set tuning, stick control, leg control, reading music notes and playing along with some songs. I am so glad that I have got a perfect teacher to learn drums who is very knowledgeable in different instruments. Thanks Laurie for teaching me drums.

I recently started taking lessons for the guitar with Laurie, and with no previous experience playing the guitar I was incredibly surprised with how quickly we were able to move through lessons. What I appreciate the most is Laurie’s patience, she takes the time to property work through each topic. Laurie creates an engaging and comfortable atmosphere (even through zoom :) I really enjoy her classes, and I always leave with a better understanding than I did before.

Laurie has been so patient and wonderful with my 9 year old son Jack. I am surprised at the progress he has made on the drums. She is great at putting him at ease and making sure he’s having fun if he gets frustrated. I would highly recommend Laurie to anyone!

I am an adult beginner guitar player. Laurie has been the best teacher I could ask for. Her encouragement really inspires me to keep going. She she cares that I understand what I’m learning and that I can perform it. She understands how to access a students abilities and structures lessons towards that. She’s always happy, positive and easy to work with.

Not only is Laurie a talented musician and teacher, she is an exceptionally kind, compassionate, and patient person. She keeps lessons fun and engaging, and helped our son progress quickly, which has been integral to his motivation and interest in learning a new instrument. Laurie also went above and beyond to help us restore an old guitar which is a family heirloom. Highly recommend!

The lessons are great! She’s patient and it’s easy to understand the lesson. Even in Zoom it’s a wonderful time each lesson. I’d recommend her anytime!

I’ve been working with Laurie since January and I am really enjoying taking lessons from her and learning how to play the drums! I’ve always wanted to play so during quarantine I bought myself an electric drum set. I would just play what I think would be some type of beat but then I was really interested in lessons. I found Laurie via Musika and what I loved was that she teaches via zoom in addition to in person. I was a little apprehensive taking a lesson via zoom but despite tech issues that come about with zoom, Laurie has figured out a way to make these lessons work! She is such a great teacher! She very quickly learned my pace and style of learning and makes sure to keep that pace when planning out the lessons. She definitely challenges me to try new skills but can also pick up on when I am feeling frustrated. When those moments happen, she will pick apart the beat or measure and have me practice piece by piece before combining the entire measure. She makes me feel very successful! My favorite thing about Laurie is she lets me pick my favorite song/band and teaches me to play the drums to that song. If you are interested in a fun, high energy, motivating teacher who will meet you at your skill level, I highly recommend Laurie!
