I provide Beginner to Intermediate lessons in voice and piano. I am a professional singer/songwriter/recording artist with 10 years of training in voice and 12 years of training in piano. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Business from Anderson University (Anderson, Indiana) where I studied voice with Dr. Jeffrey Ballard and piano with Professor Ken Chan.
By taking voice lessons with me, you will increase your vocal range, learn correct breathing methods and healthy practice/warm-up exercises, and gain confidence in your performance skills, all while singing the songs and music styles YOU enjoy.
With piano lessons, you will learn beginner music theory (including scales, chords, time signatures, key signatures, etc.), exercises to increase dexterity, and how to play the songs YOU want to play.
My lessons are fun, yet effective and can be tailored to meet your needs. I look forward to working with you!
I have been teaching private music lessons for 2 and a half years to students from ages 4 to 50.
I've had over 15 years of performance experience, in various settings in both in piano and voice, that I apply to each of my lessons.
For both voice and piano lessons, I always try to demonstrate the techniques I'd like students to learn to make sure they understand the correct way to practice. For both instruments, I use scales and chords for teaching, and I implement quite a bit of music theory in my piano lessons.
Lessons can be tailored to fit your specific needs. For younger students who need a more diciplined style of lesson, I make sure to keep them on a specific practice schedule. For adult learners, or younger students who are hoping for less rigid lessons, we can take things at a slower or more relaxed pace.
Either way, I do my best to make lessons fun!
Knowledgeable, helpful and understanding, which is great for a total beginner like me!
