Hello, my name is Lennie and I am a music teacher. I have taught music for 25 years and have played trumpet for 18. I started playing in fourth grade and played up through grade school, jr. high and into high school and have sat first and second chair. I received a two year scholarship when I graduated high school to tour and promote at Casper Community College in Casper Wyoming where we toured and promoted in many states. I graduated from Casper Community College and transferred to the university of Northern Colorado where I continued my music studies.
Throughout my musical career ranging from fourth grade on up to the college level I have played in many groups stemming from small ensembles up to bands and orchestras. I have had the privilege of playing with some top quality players and studying with some of the best teachers and professors on all levels. I have had experience with many different styles of music including jazz, classical, blues, swing and rock. I have sat 1st and 2nd chairs in the majority of my groups and have played lead in five of the sixth jazz bands at UNC.
Throughout my musical career I have used many method books to improve my playing anywhere from beginning band books on up to the Arban’s trumped method and have gained knowledge from each and everyone of them. Each of the many books I have used have been valuable in making me the player that I was. The information that I have gained through studying this material has helped me become the teacher that I am today, and my goal when teaching any student is to pass on what has been given to me throughout my lifetime.
With each student or students I first have to assess to see what level they are playing so that I can start them out at a level that would benefit them. I will be teaching online because of the fact that I am in a wheelchair and not able to get into the homes of the students that I teach. I have done this before and have been successful at it. I assign material based on their level and give them a well rounded lesson of basics and techniques that will benefit their situation. I look forward to any student that I have the privilege to teach and Feel honored that I can improve they’re playing.
This instructor is competent, knowledgeable, encouraging and has a systematic way of moving from one step to the next. I would recommend Lennie to anyone interested in learning to play trumpet.
