Overview:
I have developed my skill set through experience as a professional musician, songwriter, and band member. My specialty is guitar, as I have a degree in Guitar Performance from the California Institute of the Arts, and I also teach piano, voice, and ukulele. I also love to help students write music to express their creativity. As a musician, I have had the opportunity to perform, write, and record professionally with a very dedicated group of musicians. Through my dedication, I hope to inspire my students to become passionate about music and creativity.

EXPERIENCE
Once I started studying at California Institute of the Arts in 2012, I begin teaching music lessons and working as a part-time performing arts teacher at the university while pursuing my degree. Now, I am a full-time teacher and performer, growing my student base in Santa Clarita Valley. I love to teach and help others discover new passions and reach their goals. As a versatile instructor, I teach all ages from 4 through 65+. I teach private lessons, community group classes, and elementary after school enrichment programs. Peace of Mind.... Because I teach lessons both privately and at local elementary schools, I have been background checked via LiveScan fingerprint by the Department of Justice. I have a proven track record of safety, courtesy and professionalism.
METHODS USED

I generally like to have students use a music curriculum book in addition to playing songs they enjoy.I recently created a custom music lesson book for guitar, called Suncho School of Music Guitar Method. This book reflects my unique teaching style, and I went out of my way to make it fun and relatable for kids, teens, and adults alike. I always find out what the student is interested in and what motivates him or her. I keep the lessons productive, engaging, and fun at any age or ability level. I don't subscribe to one-size-fits-all teaching methods. Rather, I cater my lessons to each student's individual needs and goals for a fulfilling lesson experience.

LESSON STYLE
I encourage students to be open and ask questions during their lessons. I want to get a clear picture of every student's learning style and interests to help them achieve their goals. I also encourage students to participate in bi-annual recitals which I put on in partnership with other music teachers in Santa Clarita, as performance is an excellent motivator for practice and consistency with lessons. I make it a point to stick with a regular lesson schedule, as consistent attendance is an extremely important factor in progress.

Lilia recently started teaching one of my 11-yr-old sons to play piano. My boys absolutely love their lessons and what they're learning here. Lilia is patient with my boys (who tend to not always be so patient) and is also very well organized, structured, punctual, and accommodate my schedule to the best of their ability, which has been 100% so far. We look forward to continuing lessons with her!

I am a performance artist who was looking to improve my vocal skills during performances. Typically after performances I was unable to speak very well and would lose my voice the next day. I went to see Lilia for training on creating a stronger sound with my voice. I was able to improve much more than I expected. My speaking voice improved, singing, as well as my vocal awareness. Lilia has a wide range of techniques and is good at noticing the details of what needs work in a way that I could not do by myself. It's very helpful to have someone listening intently. I take lessons that are an hour to an hour and half. Right when I walked in the door we would get started, the lesson is very focused the entire time. You get good use out of every minute of it. I always drive home feeling more resonant and practicing what I learned in the car and at home.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
