Overview:
I'm a passionate instructor who loves working with students from all levels.  However, my specialty lies in teaching advanced piano students. Due to the wide variety of experience in the piano teaching career, I have had the privilege of working with advanced piano students.  I have had more than 10 years of teaching piano experience ranging from working with a privately owned Montessori school in Buena Park, CA. to working for a Music School, Brea.  I have also taught a wide variety of styles ranging mostly from Pop to Country music.  I was a Classically raised pianist myself.  I have performed in numerous recitals and sung in a few vocal recitals while studying voice as a second instrument.
EXPERIENCE
While studying to complete my BA through Cal Poly Pomona, I have had the privilege of touring with Cal Poly Pomona's University Concert Choir for at least three years.  I have been heavily involved with this choir for a total of 5 years, and I was appointed as Section Leader for the Sopranos for one term, which meant hard work and dedication almost paid off back then.  This was the period of my gigging days because some of these tours were paid tours where all of singers were paid to perform around SoCal.  Other than this extensive history of being a choral singer, I have continued my own music education in the field of Piano Pedagogy through Cal State Fullerton, receiving my License/Certificate to be qualified to teach piano in private music schools throughout the Orange County area.  Aside from having taught in a wide variety of music schools, I have owned my own private studio at home as well.
METHODS USED
For beginning piano students, I use the method books from Faber's Piano Adventures series. If the student gets bored with one method book, I will mostly likely top it off with something else from Alfred.  I stress mostly on counting proper rhythm, learning alphabets, and finger numbers for early age groups.  For intermediate students, I would expect students to already be able to read music aside from the rhythm challenges.  I will move on from where the student last left off from his/her former piano/voice teacher.  Aside from Faber and Alfred, I also have Bastien method books that I have taught from during my decade of piano teaching experience.  Of course, these aren't the only method books I have come to uncover.  As for voice, I have a set of vocal warm up scales from major and minor scales and patterns that my own former voice teacher has provided me.  I am very familiar with all the warm up techniques as well as breathing and how warming up techniques need to closely connect with the breathing.  Since I have performed in recitals and sung over the grand piano in a church, I will be able to guide beginning students at least with how to establish a certain type of singing voice.
LESSON STYLE
I have had the passion of teaching piano since I started building experience through further studying Piano Pedagogy.  The courses I was honored to take were extremely valuable for the piano teaching jobs I was able to find for the next decade.  My most rewarding experience was when my long-term student of 5 years won first place in her first "Battle of the Bands" for playing Bruno Mars' "Just the Way You Are". Of course, she wasn't the only student I have been able to hold for 5 years long.  I have had many students who've been able to stay with me as long as they can before they either moved away or had to quit due to starting High School.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
