California University of Pennsylvania, Bachelors of Science, Commercial Music Technology
2018 - Graduated from California University of PA. 2018 - My band Haven State released our first EP called Stratus on all music streaming platforms. Dean's list twice in college.
I am a recently graduated college student from California University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelors of Science in Commercial Music & Technology. I have been a drummer for about 14 years now gaining experience from 3 different teachers as well as self teachings. When I went to college I found myself surrounded by other great, talented musicians with the same passion I have for music. From there I have started many musical projects, with the current and most successful one being my band, Haven State. We have been writing our own original music and recording it all on our own. I have come to learn a lot about what it takes to be a great musician, working together with your band as a team, and how to make it in the music industry. I am excited to be at a point where I can share my knowledge with other inspiring musicians.
Teaching music is always something I've felt passionate about and I would love to share the experience and skills that I've learned over my 14 years of playing drums to anyone else with the same passion. I have a well rounded grasp on music theory as well as an ability to learn music by ear. I also have experience playing a large amount of local shows with my band in the Pittsburgh area and am willing to pass on my knowledge of the industry. I believe that with the right attitude and motivation anyone can learn to play an instrument. I also believe that one on one teachings from an instructor can be a great help, as I know I wouldn't be where I am today without it.
As far as my methods for teaching I want to learn a little bit about your background in music, what your influences are, what you would like to get out of this, and what you see yourself doing with these lessons in our first meeting(s). From there I will compose a lesson plan on what I think will best suit you to learn everything you need to know. My plan for you will consist of a background on music theory, a learning of rudiments that every drummer should know, as well as ear training.
I believe that music lessons should be a fun, laid back experience so that your passion for it doesn't turn into a boring chore, but at the same time I want you to take back something informal from each lesson. I like to set goals for my students, weather it's perfecting the rudiments, learning a song or a piece in an exercise book. It is important to me that each student progresses at his or her own pace. It never fails to keep myself and my students enthusiastic about the next lesson when goals have been reached and limits broken through.
