I love painting landscapes with sounds. My goal is to share this way of looking at music with my students. I had been playing the guitar for 15+ years and I had been teaching electric guitar for 5+ years in group and personalized settings; with genres varying from Pop, Rock to Progressive metal and fusion. I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2023 with a dual major in Professional Music (Performance, Jazz Composition and Composition) and Film Scoring. My favorite artists are Mateus Asato, Allan Holdsworth, Frank Gambale and Tom Quayle!
I began teaching private lessons in electric guitar in 2016. I had been teaching to a wide range of students of different ages and musical backgrounds, from beginner to advanced. I have also taught in 2 musical schools (MUSA School of Music) and Los Olivos. Most of my students were mostly interested in Guitar Techniques and learning songs. In addition to that, I also teach Music Theory, Harmony, Arranging and Orchestration. It all sounds boring on paper but the core foundation of my teaching is that students must enjoy the journey of learning the instrument. Patience, understanding and communication are the pillars of my classes. I
For beginners, I like to either start by asking their favorite kind of music, bands, etc. I can also try showing them cool, guitar friendly music that they may be interested in. From there, I develop a personalized syllabus for the student based in their preferences, strengths and weaknesses. Also, slowly but surely I introduce and explain music theory and start working with basic books such as “A Modern Method for Guitar” by William Leavitt. My goal towards the end of the class is to keep the student engaged in the material and repertoire (According to their level and preferences). I also encourage them to find friends whom they can form a band and rock together! When it comes to teaching advanced students, my approach is very technical and focused on their interests. Because they are more professionally dedicated and oriented musicians that may be live performing; my classes would focus on technical sessions, reading sessions and improvisation sessions. The goal is to form a strong repertoire and expand their musical vocabulary towards improvisation and Sound Tone.
Keeping them engaged in the world of music is my main goal. Always to encourage them to keep pushing towards new boundaries. I remember my early piano teacher was terrible. It greatly damaged my passion for piano, which I regained many years later. I understand that a teaching position is not an easy one. We as professors, are the key to help the students find their own voices and not make them feel judged based on comparison or skills. Everybody has their own time and pace and my job as their tutor and guide is to help them find a good balance and their paths in music, wether is as a hobby or professionally.
