Overview:
I am originally from Los Angeles, California and after completing my bachelors in San Fransico I moved to Wichita to earn two  master's degrees from WSU. I am a composer and pianist who has had their music played by many musiciains ranging from student to professional. I have also played piano with the Wichita State University Wind Ensemble.  I am extremely passionate about music and I think it is important for people of all ages to learn how to play music and appreciate the small details that bring music to life.
EXPERIENCE
I had my first job tutoring students at a turtoring facily for grades K-12 in my hometown.  There I helped many students in an array of subjects.  From this first job I was able to harness my abilty to teach students in their own tailored way.  This job taught me how students learn diffrerently and you can't create a one-size fit all curriculum for every student.   While I was earning my BA I taught private piano lessons and taught students ranging from novice to adnvanced.   Currently I am employed by WSU.  I am the Music Theory Graduate Teaching Assistant during my time earning my second master's.
METHODS USED
My teaching philosophy centers on discovery learning, where I guide students to uncover answers through thoughtful, pointed questions. This approach fosters deeper understanding and long-term retention. I value patience and strive to make lessons engaging by incorporating popular music, interactive tools like drums and worksheets, and songs students love. By blending fun with purposeful learning, I aim to transform music into a journey of self-expression and personal growth, building skills for life.
LESSON STYLE
My teaching style prioritizes keeping students engaged and having fun while ensuring every lesson is tailored to their specific needs and learning styles. I use discovery learning, guiding students to uncover answers through carefully crafted questions for deeper understanding and retention. By incorporating popular music, rhythm exercises with drums, and creative worksheets, I create a dynamic and enjoyable experience. My goal is to inspire self-expression and provide a personalized journey of musical growth.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
