I am a passionate and patient vocal coach who loves working with students that are excited about becoming better singers and musicians. In 2018, I graduated from Belmont University with two Bachelor's Degrees in Commercial Music and Music Business. Currently, I am studying to earn a Master's Degree in Contemporary Performance from Berklee College of Music. I began performing onstage at five years old, and haven't stopped since. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to perform in many shows and venues across the U.S., largely in the Kansas City Metro area.
This is my first time formally teaching students, but I have over 14 years of vocal training under my belt to be able to pass on. I have been trained in various styles ranging from classical, musical theatre, pop, country, etc. I write my own songs as well, and would love to encourage and assist budding songwriters with their craft. I aim to make every voice lesson an exciting and helpful experience. I want to help find and elevate students' strengths and to encourage healthy vocal techniques.
Each lesson will be solely based around the needs and wants of the student based on their age-level, experience, and goals as a musician. We will work on many different vocal exercises and warm-ups to make sure we are strengthening every part of the vocal range. Ear training and music theory exercises can be implemented as well for those students who would like to improve their overall musicianship. As for repertoire, students may bring in whatever they are interested in learning, and/or I am more than willing to choose songs that I think would be fun and challenging within the genre the student wishes to learn.
My teaching style is to be positive, energetic, and communicative throughout each lesson. I want every student to walk away from each lesson feeling good about their progress and feeling like they have learned a valuable tool to practice throughout the week. For me as a teacher, the ultimate reward is seeing a student feel proud of their accomplishments and gain confidence as a performer. I also want to encourage every student to take their talents beyond our lessons. I would love to help prepare students for auditions, gigs, or any other opportunities that may come their way.
